Beyond the Scar · Paramedical Tattooing · Vero Beach, FL

Beyond the Scar. Medical tattooing by a board certified artist.

Paramedical tattooing uses custom-blended, skin-tone pigment to restore what surgery, illness, or injury took away. It covers 3D areola restoration after mastectomy, scar and stretch mark camouflage, and scalp micropigmentation. It is not cosmetic tattooing. It is corrective work on tissue that has already been through something, and it is done privately, without rush.

Taylor May is board certified in medical tattooing with a specialization in scar camouflage: fourteen years in medical aesthetics, twelve years teaching permanent makeup, and a career spent largely on post-surgical restoration alongside plastic surgeons in Florida and South Carolina. She practices independently and sees clients at GT LAB in Vero Beach on scheduled visit days, serving the Treasure Coast and Space Coast including Sebastian, Fort Pierce, Port St. Lucie, Stuart, Jensen Beach, Palm Bay, and Melbourne. Her pricing, policies, and aftercare are her own.

Results shown are individual and not guaranteed. No client photographs are published without written permission.

3D Areola Restoration

Post-mastectomy · both sides

After reconstruction rebuilds the shape, this restores the detail. Color, dimension, and the appearance of natural texture, tattooed onto healed reconstructed or scarred tissue so the result reads correctly in normal light rather than flat. Also performed after lumpectomy, top surgery, and areola graft surgery.

Paramedical work of this kind is rare on the Treasure Coast. Most patients are sent to Tampa or St. Petersburg for it. Taylor performs it here in Vero Beach. Requires surgeon clearance. Final pricing set at consultation.

Scar Camouflage

Priced by area

Custom-blended pigment matched to your skin tone and implanted into the scar so it blends with the surrounding skin. Taylor works with C-section, tummy tuck, breast lift, augmentation and reduction, facelift, brachioplasty, and top surgery scars, along with skin grafts, burn scars, self-harm scars, surgical trauma scars, stretch marks, hypopigmentation, vitiligo, and 3D belly button reconstruction.

Priced at consultation, because size, location, skin tone, and how the tissue healed all change the work. Scars must be fully healed and matured, generally at least twelve months old.

Dark Lip Neutralization

Client goals Naturally pigmented lips with uneven tone. She wanted an even, warm color rather than a lined or lipstick finish.

Solution Neutralizing first, then building color, because pigment placed over an unneutralized lip heals cool and grey. This is a different process than standard lip blush and takes more than one pass.

Before You Book

Paramedical tattooing, answered.

Where can I get a 3D areola tattoo near Vero Beach?+
At GT LAB. Areola restoration is uncommon on the Treasure Coast, and most patients here are referred to Tampa or St. Petersburg for it, a drive of three hours or more each way across multiple appointments. Taylor performs it in Vero Beach at 702 21st Street, which also puts it within reach of Sebastian, Fort Pierce, Port St. Lucie, Stuart, Jensen Beach, Palm Bay, and Melbourne.
What is paramedical tattooing?+
Paramedical tattooing, also called medical tattooing or medical micropigmentation, is the implantation of custom-blended skin-tone pigment into the dermis to camouflage or recreate natural skin features. It is a corrective procedure rather than decorative tattooing or standard permanent makeup, and the goal is visual normalization of an area changed by surgery, illness, or injury.
What kinds of scars can be camouflaged?+
C-section scars, tummy tuck and abdominoplasty scars, breast lift, augmentation and reduction scars, facelift scars, brachioplasty scars, top surgery scars, skin grafts, burn scars, self-harm scars, and surgical trauma scars. Taylor also works with stretch marks from pregnancy, growth, or weight change, along with hypopigmentation, vitiligo, and 3D belly button reconstruction after a tummy tuck. Raised, keloid, or actively changing scars are assessed case by case.
Do you camouflage self-harm scars?+
Yes. Scars need to be fully healed and matured, generally at least a year old. Appointments are private and scheduled first or last of the day. Taylor will assess the area and tell you honestly what camouflage can and cannot do for it. You will not be asked to explain anything.
How is scar camouflage priced?+
At consultation, by area. Size, location, skin tone, how the tissue healed, and the number of sessions needed all change the work, so a flat price would either overcharge some people or leave others with an unexpected second bill. The consultation is free, carries no obligation, and you will leave with a firm number.
How old does a scar need to be?+
Generally at least twelve months, and fully healed and matured. A scar that is still red, raised, or changing is still remodeling, and pigment placed into it will not hold or match predictably. If your scar is newer than that, come in for a consultation anyway so Taylor can tell you when to return.
Does Taylor work with top surgery and gender-affirming clients?+
Yes. Areola restoration and chest scar camouflage after top surgery are part of her paramedical practice, and the process is the same as any other reconstruction: surgeon clearance, fully healed tissue, a private consultation, and a plan built around your specific result.
What is scalp micropigmentation and who is it for?+
SMP replicates the appearance of hair follicles using pigment applied to the scalp. It is used to soften a receding hairline, create the look of density through thinning areas, camouflage scarring from hair transplant surgery, and restore the appearance of hair lost to alopecia or cancer treatment. It works for men and women, and it is priced by coverage area and number of sessions.
How much does paramedical tattooing cost?+
Areola restoration starts at $700 for both sides. Scar camouflage and scalp micropigmentation are quoted at consultation, because the area treated varies so much from one case to the next. Lip blush is $600 and permanent eyeliner runs from $200 to $700 depending on placement, each with an eight-week perfecting session at $150. Consultations are free.
How many sessions will I need, and is a perfecting session included?+
Most paramedical work takes more than one session, because scarred, grafted, and radiated tissue does not hold pigment the way undamaged skin does and color can shift as it heals. Taylor's perfecting sessions are scheduled at eight weeks and priced separately at $150 for lips and eyeliner, while areola and scar work are quoted as a course of sessions at consultation. Brow services with Gia are the exception: those include the Perfecting Session in the price.
Does Taylor do eyebrows?+
No. Brow services at GT LAB are performed by Gia, who specializes in nanoshading, powdershading, and combo brows. Taylor's work here is paramedical tattooing, lips, and eyeliner.
How private are appointments, and how do I book?+
Paramedical appointments are scheduled in a private room, first or last of the day. No photographs are taken without your written permission, and consent to photograph is separate from consent to publish. To book, call or text (772) 643-3988. Taylor's services are not booked online, and because her visit days are limited, appointments are usually arranged several weeks ahead.

Every case starts with a conversation.
